The day after….

THE PARTY SEASON CAN BE EXTREMELY HARD ON YOUR BODY, AND AN EXTREMELY FUN NIGHT OUT MAY TELL AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORY ON YOUR FACE THE NEXT DAY. TIME ’N STYLE BEAUTY SUGGESTS SOME QUICK TIPS AND SOLUTIONS TO BATTLE THE POST-PARTY BLUES

The day after a big party, most women encounter dreadful skin concerns. This is because women tend to use a lot of makeup, enjoy the occasional drink and don’t get enough sleep. “The most important thing that you should remember is to remove your makeup before you go to bed. I cannot stress enough how important it is to firstly cleanse and exfoliate your skin, and then tone and moisturise it before going to sleep,” states Dr. Jaishree Manchanda, Cosmetologist and Dermatologist. You can use wet wipes, a makeup remover or cleansing lotion; the options are endless. “You can also use 10 per cent or 20 per cent glycolic peels once a week, which are very mild and will help cleanse your face. Splash your face with cold water and then moisturise it. It is important to use a moisturiser in the day and at night as well,” adds Dr. Manchanda. If you don’t remove your makeup, it tends to block the pores and may cause acne if your skin is oily.
Because of a hectic schedule and lack of rest, very often women suffer from pigmentation or under-eye circles. These make your face look older and more tired. “The best bet to combat eye-puffiness and under-eye circles is to put cucumber slices on the eyes. Another effective way is to put used tea bags in the fridge for a while and then place them on your eyes,” explains Dr. Manchanda. She also says that a massage on your face with ultrasonic gel improves hydration levels to a great extent.
Try this at home: Leave a bowl of milk with a slice of lemon in the refrigerator. Do not squeeze the lime, but just let it sit in the milk. Whenever you need to wash your face, take the bowl out and use the milk to wash your face as it has enriching properties that will lend a glowing and whitening effect, and leave your skin feeling soothed.

Tips to keep your skin healthy during this season Consumption of alcoholic beverages tends to dehydrate your skin, so supplement your diet with some antioxidants and vitamins, drink plenty of water and use a lot of moisturiser to make up for it. Consume a healthy diet full of fruits and vegetables. Follow every drink with a glass of water to maintain your hydration levels. Avoid sodas as mixers as they tend to dehydrate your skin further. Sunscreen and a moisturiser are important throughout the year. Choose makeup according to your skin type. Ensure you get at least six to seven hours of sleep every night, to avoid dark circles. Don’t ignore your cleansing, toning, moisturising routine. Use thermal spring water sprays like Avène to rehydrate your face. Follow your exercise routine so that puffiness isn’t a problem. Remember to enjoy yourself within limitations because your face reflects your overall health.
